- Dichlorvos insecticide has been banned.
- All stocks must be removed before 1st April 2004, or the
Museum will be in breach of Health & Safety legislation.
- Naphthalene has not been used in the department for more than 10 years
due to legal and health and safety reasons.
- If you think you have any please contact Sue Lewis on ext 5779 to
arrange for disposal.

- KEEP work area tidy as special cleaning protocols apply
- KEEP all vulnerable collection material in over night collection storage
- KEEP all stored packaging and disposed materials in sealed containers
- TRANSPORT consumables in sealed containers

- Ensure rodent proofing is maintained

- BUT
- this only works if we stop
feeding them with human food

- Be aware of the Risk Zone you are in and act accordingly.
- Store boxes or postal boxes held temporarily within workspaces must be
placed in sealed plastic bags.
- Keep your work areas clean and tidy.
- Eat only in designated areas, never near collections.
- Quarantine – don’t bring untreated material into the collections
(including furniture, stores & field equipment!)
- No pot plants or flowers in collections areas.
- No live cultures anywhere without express permission.
- Remove wool felt and cotton wool from collections.
- Monitor and Report!
